Custodian Update
Fellow Spirit ALPA Pilots,
It has now been nearly two months since our airline ceased flight operations. As that happened, MECs from across ALPA jumped into gear to help find soft landings for Spirit pilots. The Custodian Team has been receiving reports of Spirit Alumni running into each other all over the country at different job fairs, interviews, and ultimately at their new carriers. Below is a picture of the most recent group of Spirit pilots that found a home at Kalitta!

In this week's edition of the Custodian Update, the team wanted to provide answers to the most frequently asked questions since our last publication.
2026 W-2s
A very common DART received by the team concerns the 2026 W-2 that will be issued by Spirit.
We have reached out to the Company and confirmed that as of right now W-2s for 2026 will be postmarked and delivered by January 31, 2027, in accordance with standard practice under Internal Revenue Service guidelines.
While the Company is still determining who will be the point of contact for W-2 issues once they are distributed, they have informed us there is still a skeleton crew monitoring the HR@spirit.com distribution list.
Another common question surrounding W-2s has to do with our E-3 visa brothers and sisters who have had to go back home. While UKG does not allow the input of an international address, the W-2 for 2026 will be delivered electronically by January 31, 2027.
PRD & Training Records
Pilots that haven’t should review their PRD for accuracy. Any corrections must be made through the PRD itself. We have been made aware that Company representatives capable of making these corrections will only be retained through July 31, 2026.
Each pilot should review their PRD for accuracy and begin the correction process, if needed, prior to July 31.
Pilots who would like a copy of their Training Records may do so by emailing CrewTrain@spirit.com. Please keep in mind, these records should also be contained in each pilot's PRD.
NCCs
The date of our final paycheck from Spirit Airlines was May 29, 2026. With that in mind the last day to file an NCC for discrepancies regarding this paycheck is June 29, 2026. In addition, the Bankruptcy Court has set a deadline of July 27 to file claims for any payments that Spirit owes that arose after the bankruptcy filing (August 29) but before the May 2 shutdown. ALPA will be filing a claim for any amounts due to breaches of the contract during that period, so please file an NCC if you believe you are still owed money under the contract during the bankruptcy period. Please be aware that formal grievances and complaints have been filed on behalf of all affected pilots regarding the Company’s failure to pay out our sick and vacation banks in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
We know that we are all still grieving and healing from the upheaval of our careers. Please continue to check in on yourselves and others; we will always remain Spirit family. Pilot Peer Support, a network of pilot volunteers who help ALPA pilots deal with stress from any source, remains a resource available to you. For any questions, please continue to use DART. The Custodian Team continues to work on your behalf.
In Unity,
SPA Custodian Team
