Final Payroll Distribution

Fellow Spirit ALPA Pilots,

Today, each pilot should have received an additional check from the Company. This check included the April A321 OVRD owed and the remaining 100% pay owed for premium trips flown in April (JRX/Y, X/Y, CAP, etc.). It is also highly likely that today’s check is the final payroll distribution we will receive outside of the dispute, bankruptcy, or some other process.

Please reference the Custodian update from last Thursday to review how to properly calculate your pay. We will do the best we can to attempt to rectify errors; however, it will be very difficult if not impossible to rectify pay errors outside of a formal process. That will now be left up to the NCC, grievance, and ultimately the bankruptcy process. Please make sure to file an NCC as quickly as possible if you have a pay dispute, as bankruptcy court timelines may be closer than CBA timelines.

The Custodian Team has filed grievances relating to the last two paychecks received from the Company as well as the Company’s failure to pay out sick and vacation banks upon separation as required by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Any pilot who was on property as of the shutdown date is covered by these grievances; there is no need to file additional NCCs.

Another common question the Custodian Team has been receiving pertains to contact information at the Company for Training and Drug and Alcohol records. As of today, we know that there is a skeleton crew in both of those departments. However, for how long and what distribution lists are still being monitored is not known. For now, we believe that CrewTrain@spirit.com is still an active email for training records and flight times. The Drug and Alcohol checklist provided by the company on the spa.alpa.org website is still active. However, at some point these departments will be fully closed as well. We will do our best to update the group if we learn of alternative ways to contact the Company.

As has been mentioned in previous communications, the merger fund must be audited before it can be returned to the pilot group. That process is ongoing; however, this is not something that takes days or weeks; it will be months before that money is ready to be returned. We will provide the group with an update once the funds are ready to be returned.

Please keep in mind that it is the goal of the Custodian Team to keep the group informed, and those updates will be published on Fridays when there is new information to share or an update is warranted. As we move further into the liquidation process, and as more Spirit Corporate employees depart, information will naturally begin to slow as we lose access to people who can resolve issues without first obtaining clearance from the bondholders. In the meantime, please continue to check the website spa.alpa.org for updates. Please continue to utilize the resources that ALPA has provided in terms of furlough support, and most importantly please continue to take care of yourselves and check in on each other.

In Unity,

SPA Custodian Team
